Amit Shah is the senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has been the Union Home Minister since 2019. He has also been serving as the Union Minister of Co-operation since 2021. Shah was the president of the BJP from 2014 to 2020. He has been a Lok Sabha member from the Gandhinagar constituency of Gujarat since 2019. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Shah won the Gandhinagar seat by defeating Congress candidate Dr CJ Chavda with a margin of 5,57,014 votes. He was the Minister of State for Home, Law and Justice, Prison, Border Security, Civil Defence, Excise, Home Guards, Transport, Prohibition, Gram Rakshak Dal, Police Housing, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs in Gujarat in the Narendra Modi-led government from 2002 to 2012. Shah won the Sarkhej Assembly constituency in Gujarat in 1997 (bypoll), 1998, 2002 and 2007. He also represented the Naranpura Assembly seat from 2012 to 2017. Shah also served as the Rajya Sabha member from 2017 to 2019. Amit Shah is again contesting from the Gandhinagar constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

"The police have not yet given us the permission to install drone at the rally venue," BJP state general secretary Sayantan Basu said.
"Complying with Supreme Court orders we brought NRC. The NRC is a way to evict illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from Assam. I would like to ask SP, BSP & Congress to clear their stand on whether they want illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to stay here or evict them," said Shah.
"The Shah of lies and the Shahenshah of Jumlas tried their best to stall NRC. I will tell you how they hatched a conspiracy to stop, delay and disrupt the NRC process," said Khera, reported news agency PTI.
The century-old station on the busy Delhi-Howrah route is being touched up with saffron paint at places and signboards with the new name being put up.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, Amit Shah asked the Congress to give an account of the work done by its leaders during their four generations of rule.
Commenting on the entire matter, Kolkata Police said, reported ANI, “Some unwarranted speculation in social media about denial of permission to a political party on 11 August has come to our notice. It is to clarify that on request, permission for the meeting has already been granted.”
BJP president Amit Shah was not allowed to speak over the issue in Rajya Sabha for the second consecutive day as Opposition MPs resorted to sloganeering as soon as he stood up present his views.
While the ruling BJP and the Opposition led by the Congress and Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress are engaged in a slugfest over the issue, the NRC draft released on Monday has exposed several irregularities.
"She should clarify what kind of civil war she is talking about," he said.
Attacking the Congress party, he said, “Congress started the NRC is 2005 but failed to implement it. It was taken over by the Narendra Modi-led government.”
The assembly election will be contested under her leadership and she will again become the chief minister with a thumping majority, he said at the concluding session here of the BJP's state working committee meeting.

Only few selected top leaders from both parties were reportedly invited for the dinner where the two leaders are believed to have discussed the seat sharing formula for 2019 general elections.
The two leaders will now meet over dinner hosted by Kumar at his house around 8pm and are expected to work out the differences and kick-start the process of formalising the specifics of the electoral understanding.
